| Lot 141 | Palms and other flowers in The Gardens La Mortola Italy watercolour signed with initials 21.5 x 28in (53.5 x 71cm). This watercolour by Caparne dates from the early part of the 20th century when he visited Italy and other places on and around the Mediterranean coast. It was exhibited at The St Martins Exhibition Guernsey in 1912. The gardens were created by an English family (the Hanburys). They are described as ''dramatic'' with wonderful coastal views and consist of an outstanding exotic plant collection. The gardens still exist today and are managed by the University of Genoa.
